I was originally going to not shade this like a retard, but then I was all "HURHUR FIRE I HAVE TO USE THAT AS THE LIGHT SOURCE." Good job, asshole.

That fireball essentially acts as a lightbulb located at the tip of the tail. Clearly--as you're no doubt aware--this makes shading an extremely finicky ordeal. Now that I'm done pointing out the obvious, I'll get to my point: while I noted a few minor inconsistencies with the shading, I'll avoid mentioning those, and simply point out that the entire portion of the tail that is near the light source should be lit, not dark. Unless there's some weird brand of matches available that I'm not privy to capable of failing to illuminate their burning stick in any way.

Obviously, I understand conceptually how shading works; it's just that I miss things occasionally. when doing the shading, I guess I sort of pictured the flames as sort of between his tail and his feet BUT THAT'S DUMB AND WRONG

is it fixed now can I have my desserts

Perfect shading can be over-rated.

I find that if you make up shadows and light that works just fine if not better.
